Direct delivery of intervention (or behavior treatment by protocol) 97153 is noted in the Behavior Analysis Fee Schedule, effective July 1, 2022; to be reimbursed at a maximum rate of $12.19 irrespective of the clinician being an RBT, BCaBA, or BCBA. Many clinical instances exist wherein direct delivery of intervention by BCBA in a necessity. There needs to be a modifier for the level of clinician so that reimbursement is provided according to level of expertise provided.
