Capital Association for Behavior Analysis (CABA) Call for Nominations Closes

I know everyone is getting ready for the holiday season, but there are some upcoming changes to CABA. The primary change that everyone should know right now is CoFABA is working to align all the chapters to have elections that correspond with the CoFABA conference schedule. Because of this, we are going to be holding our CABA Board elections in the next month!
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!
We are opening the floor for current CABA members (also current FABA members) to nominate people for all board positions. The term for these positions will be 18 months. The board positions and the corresponding responsibilities are listed below:
The Executive Committee
President
- Serve as Chairperson of the Executive Committee
- Serve as the presiding officer at all chapter meetings
- Ensure the execution of the responsibilities of the Executive Committee
- Serve as chief spokesperson and representative of CABA
- Serve as liaison with the FABA Executive Committee
- See that the chapter is operated in conformity with the policies set forth by FABA
- Attend local chapters meeting at the annual FABA conference
Vice President
- Serve as a member of the Executive Committee
- Perform all presidential duties in the absence of the President
- Act as chapter President if the office becomes vacated until such vacant is filled
- Oversee the development and functioning of all chapter committees
- Coordinate the submission of articles to the FABA newsletter
Secretary
- Serve as a member of the Executive Committee
- Prepare necessary paperwork for CEUs in collaboration with the CEU provider and send to the FABA office
- Coordinate distribution of all chapter publications
- Maintain an accurate record of all chapter meetings and events and distribute to the membership via electronic media and social media
Treasurer
- Serve as a member of the Executive Committee
- Receive, distribute, and maintain and accurate record of all chapter funds
- Be diligent in the collection of fees and dues
- Collect fees for CEUs in collaboration with the CEU provider and send payment to FABA (when applicable) in a timely manner
- To maintain an accurate written record of all payments made to the chapter and to give written receipts for all such payments
- Responsibly manage the bank account in the name of CABA
The Supporting Committee includes 3 supporting positions; these positions are optional and do not need to be filled, but can be if someone is nominated/accepts/receives votes:
Community Liaison/Marketing Coordinator
- Serve as member of the Supporting Committee
- Disseminate relevant chapter information to the public for purposes of membership recruitment and community services
- Organize and conduct fundraising efforts for CABA
- Communicate with local media and community support groups
- Attend and participate in planning/fundraising for the CoFABA annual conference
Student Liaison
- Serve as a member of the Supporting Committee
- Assist the Executive Committee with dissemination and coordinating community events
- Attend and participate in planning/fundraising for the CoFABA annual conference
Member at large
- Serve as a member of the Supporting Committee
- Support the chapter’s mission in capacities determined by the Executive Committee
- Attend and participate in planning/fundraising for the CoFABA annual conference
The call for nominations will close on 11/20/2024; those who have been nominated will then be contacted to confirm that they are accepting the nomination. Please remember that you MUST be a current CABA and FABA member to nominate AND accept a nomination. There are 4 categories of membership, and they will be listed at the bottom of this email. Full Professional
- Florida CBAs, BCaBAs, BCBAs, and BCBA-Ds
- Current FABA member
- May nominate and vote for Executive officers, as well as propose and vote on amendments to chapter’s bylaws
- Members in this category may also run for elected positions
Full Paraprofessional
- RBTs, direct care staff, behavior technicians, and paraprofessional staff who spend the majority of their working time implementing behavior programs/strategies
- Current FABA member
- May nominate and vote for Executive officers, as well as propose and vote on amendments to chapter’s bylaws
- Members in this category may also run for elected positions
Limited Professional
- Includes any degree-holding person employed full- or part-time, including professionals with licenses and/or credentials other than those provided by the BACB (SLPs, OTs, LMHCs, Social Workers, etc.)
- Members in this category are not FABA members, and are nonvoting
- Members in this category may run for an elected position (except President and Vice President) if they are an active FABA member
Limited Paraprofessional
- RBTs, direct care staff, behavior technicians, and paraprofessional staff who spend the majority of their working time implementing behavior programs/strategies
- Members in this category are not FABA members; therefore, they may not nominate or vote for Executive Officers
- Members in this category may not propose nor vote on amendments to the chapter’s bylaws
- Members in this category may not run for elected positions
